Target's Price Match Policy Overview
Target has one of the best price match policies among major US retailers. Unlike Walmart (which stopped matching competitors), Target actively matches prices from dozens of online and in-store competitors — and gives you 14 days after purchase to come back and claim a price adjustment if you find a lower price.
The policy covers both items you buy in a physical Target store and items you purchase on Target.com. Matching can be done at checkout (for new purchases) or at the customer service desk (for adjustments within 14 days).
Target Circle members get additional stacking benefits — you can combine Target Circle discounts with a price match in many cases.

- Competitors' clearance or liquidation pricing

- Third-party marketplace sellers (eBay, Amazon third-party sellers)
- Coupons or promotional codes the competitor is running (you can use your own Target coupons, but not theirs)
- Mail-in rebate offers
- Competitor items not in stock
- Limited-time flash sales that have ended
- Pricing errors
- Buy-one-get-one offers
Target Circle + Price Match = Maximum Savings
Target Circle is Target's free loyalty program. Here's how to stack it with price matching:
- ✓ Get a price match on an item first (bringing it to the competitor price)
- ✓ Then apply a Target Circle discount or offer on top
- ✓ Stack with a manufacturer coupon for even more savings
- ✓ Earn 1% rewards on all Target purchases, including price-matched items
Note: Not all Target Circle offers stack with price matches. Some Circle deals are considered "final price" offers.
Target Price Adjustment (After Purchase)
Bought something at Target and saw it cheaper somewhere else within 14 days? Target's price adjustment policy lets you claim the difference retroactively.
The rules are the same as a regular price match — the item must be identical and currently in stock at the competitor. Target also does adjustments if Target itself drops the price within 14 days of your purchase.
Bring your receipt (physical or digital in the Target app) to the customer service desk, or contact Target online support. The refund goes back to your original payment method.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Target price match Amazon?
Yes, Target price matches Amazon.com. The Amazon price must be for the identical item (same brand, model, size, color) and must be in stock and available for immediate shipping from Amazon (not third-party sellers). Target's app or website can often verify this in seconds.
Does Target price match Walmart?
Yes, Target price matches Walmart.com and Walmart stores. The item must be identical and in stock at Walmart at the time of your request. Target Circle members may also qualify for an additional savings beyond the price match.
How long does Target give me to request a price match?
Target gives you 14 days from the date of purchase to request a price match. This is called a price adjustment — you bring your receipt (or show your Target account) and Target will refund the difference if the same item is currently cheaper at a qualifying competitor.
Can I get a Target price match on sale prices?
Target will match regular prices and sale prices at qualifying competitors. However, they won't match prices that require a coupon to achieve, member-only sale prices (like Amazon Prime-only deals), or limited-time flash sales.
Does Target price match its own website?
Yes. If you bought something in-store and Target.com has it cheaper, or vice versa, Target will match the lower price. This includes Target Circle deal prices. You have 14 days to request an adjustment.
What stores does Target price match?
Target price matches Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Costco.com, Best Buy, Wayfair, Kohl's, and Target.com itself, among others. The full list includes most major US retailers. Target does not match prices from local independent stores, wholesale clubs (in-store), or marketplace/third-party sellers.
How do I request a price match at Target?
In-store: show the lower price on your phone (retailer's website or app) to a Target team member at the customer service desk or a cashier at checkout. For online purchases: chat with Target's support team on Target.com or call 1-800-440-0680 with your order number and the competitor URL.
Can I use a coupon and price match at Target?
Target allows you to stack a Target coupon with a price match in most cases. The price match brings the price down to the competitor's level, then your coupon is applied on top. Manufacturer coupons also typically stack. However, competitors' coupons cannot be used to achieve the matched price.
